1948: Fire on the Hilltop

In late April 1948, a battle raged around the San Simon monastery. Those were the darkest days of Jewish Jerusalem during the War of Independence. The fate of the city was decided here, among the pine trees. Both sides - the Arab men of Ibrahim Abu-Daya and the Jewish Harel brigade - gave all they had to give. The first to hesitate would loose. This walk will follow the story of this battle and the influence it had on the future of the City.
