In the 19th century the world got smaller - and the political interests larger. It was a time of great European empires, each one looking to increase its influence. Much of this effort was directed to Jerusalem, the Holy City that stood at the heart of the crumbling Ottoman Sultanate. Explorers and spies, priests and soldiers were sent here to wage a cold war in the name of their emperor. This is their story, the story of the Great Game in Jerusalem.
